BMW STOLE THE SPOT LIGHT AT THIS YEAR’S CONCORSE D’ELEGANZA VILLA D’ESTE

Alpina has always relied on BMW technology, but now that it’s a wholly owned subsidiary, the integration will be tighter than ever before.

The Vision BMW Alpina is a proper big car, at 5.20 meters end to end. And from the side, you will see the immediate shared profile with the aforementioned B7 Turbo Coupé (which was based on the E24-gen BMW 6-series).

Trademark elements such as the slanted front with ‘sharknose’ grills, the long bonnet and long, straight lines down the entire side.

The tall central tunnel also stands out, which hints at what’s being sent to the rear wheels: V8 power!

This is not some hype-EV powertrain but a proper traditional internal combustion powertrain. No performance figures are given, nor the fact of whether this will enter production, but if it does become a reality, it’s a fitting continuation of the incredible legacy of Alpina!

  1. "...it’s a fitting continuation of the incredible legacy of Alpina!" Yeah, no. This looks like an ill-fated affair between a Jag and a Cybertruck with an interior from a bad 1960's Japanese science fiction movie and as ergonomic as a yak. A real Alpina has oil one can change one's self and round gauges with numbers and needles - a real Alpina https://topcarspecs.com/manufacturers/alpina/alpina-b7/alpina-b7-turbo-coupe/alpina-b7-turbo-coupe-8.jpg

  2. Sorry, still has the cookie cutter appearance compared to
American iron from the 50's and 60's.

  3. There are much better looking cars with which to scream, "Look at me."

  5. A few days ago I was at a red light and there were two 'cars' in front of me. One was a very new Tesla Dual Motor all in black (even the windows) that had more in common with Darth Vader than cars and next to it was a BMW E39 M5 that had clearly never seen salt. I did not have to think about which one I wanted. Who wants these new 'cars'? Steve_in_Ottawa (where they use a LOT of road salt in Winter).

  6. Looks good, does it have turn signals that work?

  7. Good god, what an ugly thing, especially when seen from the front. As a serial BMW E28 owner, I'd much rather have any car designed by Paul Bracq or Bruno Sacco.

  8. I got lucky as the 5.0L spun the bearings while still in warranty. It was the wife's car, early 30's, school teacher with 2 young kids she carted around. BMW is a car that I will only own while it is in warranty. I will also keep a backup car as there dependability is in the toilet right now.

  9. I owned a Beemer 330xi for over 10 years (and 200,000 miles). It was the best car that I have ever owned.

  10. I've owned three BMWs over the years but this one is a hard pass. Actually, all but the convertibles are cars I'd avoid.

  11. Wouldn't last a month on the gravel roads around here. Useless piece of ugly junk. Very little scrap value even because all the plastic. Status symbol.? Just shows the status that a fool and his money are easily seperated.
