And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Saw a spot where they were investigating old time bourbon vs. the modern stuff, and handling was a huge factor in taste. Modern stuff doesn't sit in casks on a ship being loaded and off-loaded, doesn't toss around on the seas while being transported to storage... there was a lot more mixing in the barrel compared to today's vintage, that just sits in a warehouse.
A neighbor told me that when he was a kid during Prohibition the moon shiners would buy old whiskey kegs, fill them, and tie them in trees to slosh the squeezin's around enough to flavor it. If there weren't trees they would tie them to the pump rods on windmills for the same effect. I've been told of several buried stills in fields around where my farm is located. Another neighbor had his shine delivered into a culvert a half a mile away from his farm and would send his son to pick it up. Sadly the son started sampling the wares and ended up a complete alcoholic.
whale skweezin's
