Amazon being as fast as it is, I got the Finnish weird candy today

Tasting it, it is first salty, then a mild licorice and finally chocolate.  It is different than anything else I've tasted, but not bad at all.

You might call it an acquired taste, but on the other hand I thought it was good first time.

It would be extra good after a hot day, due to the salt.

YMMV.

  1. Is it covered in salmiak powder? I don’t like that kind of licorice at all.

    1. Duh, read the label dummy. The salt is ammonium chloride, which is toxic and usually present at levels 25 times higher than the EU considers safe.

    2. Is Finland not part of the EU? Is the product not sold throughout the EU?

If you consumed enough of that licorice product you would suffer the ill effects of the acids and flavonoids in the licorice root extract before any harm from the ammonium chloride.

Also, it’s rude to respond to someone with Duh and name calling.

  2. Heksehyl Black Licorice

Heksehyl licorice are soft, salty licorice cylinders with a gumdrop-like texture. Their strong flavor makes them perfect for the licorice aficionado.

    Try this:

  3. Smoked Digby Herring are also "an acquired taste" but with a glass of Laphroaig....pretty sweet. Steve_in_Ottawa

  4. Spent my childhood in Great Britain, where we used to get salty liquorice, so tried to order some of this, but Amazon doesn't deliver to New Zealand.
But I see the weight is in grams, so it is from a metric using country, like all 197 are apart from the USA and Myanmar, so I thought that I could email the company and get some sent, but the picture of the back of the packet doesn't embiggenfy enough for me to read it well ... and it is Finnish ? ... so my single source language will confuse them, lol.
I'll find a way to get some.

Love their spelling of the word Phaser.
