  3. I looked at one up close 30 years ago. The leading edges were aluminum over wood. The engine was a stolen English design complete with Whitworth round edge screws.

    1. I had thought the design and perhaps engines were just reworked from the Henkel jet fighter that never got into production.

    2. The Russians didn't steal the British engine, the British Labour (leftie) party gave them some in the late 40's. The US found the Mig 17 a handful in Vietnam because when you were carting bombs you were operating within the Mig's flight envelope.
