  1. I have a brand new , never used Model 284 with the stacked wooden handle, heavy green canvas sheath, 4 Airman's survival books and a two sided honing stone. I bought it back in 2013 planning on walking the A.T. But unfortunately I found out that I have a brain aneurism in my head and that was the end of that dream. It's a beautiful tool and the quality is ,well, American. This one was made in Pottstown PA. So if you get a chance to buy one, buy it. I'm going to leave mine to my Grandson, maybe He can accomplish what I set out to do.

  2. A bit expensive that pays off if you are interested in land - road clearing and you have to do it yourself. That vine hook on top is a great way to drag cut thorny brush to your pile. My tool is the traditional ringed leather grip with metal knuckle guard.
