And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Been trying out a Tom Thumb recently, gets hot as you say, like mine for a quick smoke, you kind of have to give it a break between a couple puffs, so it stays cool, holds about 1 cigarette of tobacco, handy while working in the shop. Light weight so its easy to hold in your mouth while busy with your hands.
Smoked a pipe as a young guy. Never forgot the SInclair Lewis line from his character Doremus Jessup, who knew his type should smoke a pipe but he couldn't abide "the slimy ooze of nicotine-soaked spittle."
Smoked a nice bowl today. Usually have one or more bowls while driving around the city doing errands.
Lots of younger guys taking up the pipe as a much cheaper alternative, and finding them to be more contemplative than other smokes. Check out the YTPC youtube pipe community on youtube. Pipe makers, restorers, smokers...
I started smoking a pipe again after stopping for 30 years. I started again after being cured of 15 years of four types of lymphoma. I have a used Dunhill from eBay and London Flake from LJ Perrie in Boston. I did give up drinking in return. Might as well enjoy the time I have left. Tom
