Pearl inlaid English or American bowie knife, mid 19th century.

  3. I'm not any kind of knife expert, but I do love history.
    With that in mind, the backstrap scrollwork suggests east coast colonial America to me. Also the dark wood with delicate inlay mirrors a lot of Boston wood work of that era.

    Also, and please forgive my ignorance, but I was not aware of the Brits adopting the bowie knife pattern. Am I wrong?

    1. And when I said it suggests colonial America, I mean the scrollwork looks like a lot a colonial buildings on the east coast, I am not saying it was made in colonial times.
