It's the season for this

  1. I appreciate soups and stews more in the winter.

  2. Seasonal foods... IMO seasonal foods is a tough way to live, what if you want grilled cheese & tomato soup in the summer? Nope, can't do it until (at least) fall comes, it's against the rules!
I'd never heard about those rules until my wife told me about them when I fixed a pot of chili "out of season". Turns out she (& others) had rules about what meat are supposed to go in chili too!
Now I love my wife but when I need to make chili, I need to make chili and the season really doesn't matter.. the same goes for stews too. She got over it or at least stopped mentioning it.

Of course if you just meant it's cold out and a good time for soup & sandwich and I just got carried away when I jumped in with my seasonal food thing... Oh well... sorry about that Chief.

  3. Seasonal foods? Willis Carrier pretty much took care of that nearly 125 years ago. Enjoy a grilled cheese sandwich with a bowl of chunky tomato soup AND chili con whatever for good measure!

  5. Seriously doubt if there's ever been (or ever will be for that matter) and better pairing of a soup and sandwich! Lotsa memories of consuming this growing up on our farm!
