And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
As much as I would love to have one of these, a quick pricing of them holds me back: https://classiccars.com/listings/find/all-years/toyota/land-cruiser
Try here https://bringatrailer.com/toyota/fj40/ or its brother, the FJ60, the greatest generation, body style-wise, https://bringatrailer.com/toyota/land-cruiser-fj60-fj62/
I had a 1976 FJ40 years ago. Rode like a little red wagon, and oh the tire noise — but would go anywhere at all without complaint. 13 MPG, didn’t matter if it was city/hwy/offroad. I miss it terribly.
I'm told that those early Landcruisers were actually a GM design. Might have been intended for Japanese military use, not sure about that. Couple guys at work in the 80's had them. One had a smallblock 350 and the other had a 427. They indicated that Chevy driveline assemblies bolted right in. The SBC setup looked to be a better balance of weight, power, and traction.
But new sneakers so good to go
ReplyDeleteFor a Jeep yes, but for a Landcruiser It's barely broken in.
ReplyDeleteBest and truest comment. I bet that FJ40 Land Cruiser is fifty + years old.
DeleteBet it's immaculate and that is just a vinyl wrap trying to make it look old and battered.
