And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

I'm usually a Progresso man, but this might be worth a shot.
A-men! Just had a can of Campbell's beef and barley yesterday. I fed the most of the can to my dog and swore I would never buy another can of their soup again. Bubbarust
Looks like Campbells did the same thing with the Homestyle soup that they just did with their Chunky soup. They both have gone from 18.6-8 to 16.1 oz. per can. I didn't see the corresponding 9-10% price decrease though?
A large can of dinty beef stew, with a hole in the lid cut with my hinting knife, setting on the coals edge of the fire, while getting a set of home made biscuits to cook while the dinty warms up. All that sweet smokey flavor just waiting for my mouth to take over. Anyways, way we did it camping out in the Boy Scouts. Some guys started bringing Cambell's chunky back when those came around. Might be a ruffed grouse or pheasant or a brace of squirrels if we got lucky. It all tastes great over a camp fire.
Homemade is the best made. I sometimes make a huge pot of beef vegetable soup which has about 13 different vegetables. Heavy on the cabbage. Very hearty. Very good.
I wonder what the sodium content is???

ReplyDeleteI bought a case of Campbells clam chowder last week.
More poison.

Good catch, just checked some I got on sale locally last week, smaller cans haven't made it into the stores in my area yet but I'll keep an eye out.

Can't do the can on the coals anymore. The cans have liners.

ReplyDeleteYeah that cabbage gives it nice earthy flavor.
DeleteActually no, just fiber and vitamins, cabbage hater. You can't taste it.
