    1. Similar but not the same. Alexander de Seversky, founder of Republic Aircraft came up with that wing design and it was a great one.

  3. My dad had fond memories of P-47's along with P-51's helping to chase the Nazi's up and out of Italy. Some of the only fond memories at that!

  5. Dad was stationed in Guam right after the Pacific Theater cooled down. He was a member of Shore Patrol and often patrolled past those Thuderbolts behind the fence.

  8. Really amazing how large a fighter aircraft it is. Must be quite satisfying all wrapped in 10 tons of sky ripping ground shredding fire breathing power.

  10. There's a video on YouTube that shows how to assemble a crated P-47 in the field using simple tools and pieces of the crating material. Quite interesting!
