And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Good to see you Al in Ottawa. Thought you might have commented on the 250 GTO. This stereo set up is a wee bit odd. My ancient Marantz 2250, equally old Nakamichi 600 cassette deck, Thorens turntable and Denon CD player do just fine driving a set of Polk Model 10 studio monitors wot I bought from Studio Sound on Bank St. long ago in the last century. Just plain nice.....Steve_in_Ottawa
First, the screen's too small for the speakers. Second, at least one of those turntables is going to skip so badly that any record will have scratches the size of the Marianas Trench.
Does it get loud? You bet! Does it sound good? Hell no. Fat sloppy bass, harsh reflections everywhere, no imaging whatsoever. If you want good sound the first thing you build is the room.
JBL 4355's, Mac 2500 amp, Marantz 5220 cassette, Garrard TT on the floor, I think a Mac C28 pre, and not sure about the TT on top. Earth shaking sound, just in the wrong room....HOWEVER, if played with care and at least half a brain...stunning sound in that room...
I'll bet that's a big volume knob he got off a ship to the right of the chair.
ReplyDeleteDorm mate had a pair of speakers with 12" woofers and 12" passive radiators. We used to get high and "watch" Dark Side of the Moon on them.
ReplyDeleteHey roomie!
DeleteIs that a ship's engine room telegraph on the floor at the right?

I immediately thought of hand-cranked air-raid siren, but something off a ship seems plausible.

DeleteA more important question is "is that chair anchored to the floor?".

ReplyDeleteDon't need to watch the tv; you can amuse yourself by watching that turntable walk across the floor.
DeleteThat'll blow your hair back!
ReplyDeleteThis one goes to 11…
ReplyDeleteThis is Spinal Tap
DeleteWHAT????
ReplyDeleteOnly if they'll blow a girl's clothes off.
ReplyDeleteWe'll skip discussing why anyone would be so stupid as to put a TV screen in front of a window.

ReplyDeleteAnother F- system.

Notice all the gear is on wheels. Maybe this is just where it's parked.

Too small, I had two 15" subs in a single cab truck. Wife wonders why I am always saying "WHAT?"
