  1. That's a Filson Packer hat. I've got one that must be close to 50 years old. It's so old I can't even remember when or where I bought it.
    Filson used to be quality stuff. I don't know how it is anymore.

    1. It looks like they're over $80 these days. I'm sure I paid about twenty bucks for mine.
      I thought the hat band had fallen off. I just checked. It's still on there!
      It's still in great shape.

  3. Still have the 1958 coleman single mantle dad gave me when I was bout 10 or 12. Been 50 odd years ago. And it works

    1. Suggest ya check out Norman MacLean's "Young Men and Fire" (he wrote "A River Runs through It and Other Stories") as well. His son John has published several books about major fires (and the brave souls who fight them) primarily in our Great American West.
