Somebody pointed out the difference between a digging bar and one used specifically for post holes. Here's the post hole version.

  1. We used to call these “piss ant” bars, used them to move huge rocks to build hiking trails in SoCal when I was a young buck. Still own one to this day.

  2. I have one similar to this. Have used it for I forget how many years. Very useful for digging out rocks and tree stumps. Can't remember what I paid for it, but it was worth every penny.

  4. I've used one to pull up ligustrum stumps. Nice tool.

  5. 50" seems quite short to make good use of as a prying or tamping tool, but I see they make one that is 68" too.

    1. One would think an auger would be preferable. But what do I know?

  7. Have dug many post holes. A breaker bar is for cutting roots or breaking rock the post hole diggers can't break. After 8 or 9 feet we used a little(?) dynamite.

  8. Augers can struggle in rocks, roots, clay, etc. When that happens you go to muscle and iron bar.
