And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Back in the summer of 1905 the 2-masted schooner "E. M. Sawyer" wrecked on the southern tip of Monhegan Island, Maine. The moment was captured by S. P. Rolt Triscott
About 20 miles from here is the town of Wiscasset, and when I was a boy, traveling with my family up route A1A, we would pass by the remains of the 4-masted schooners HesperLuther Little. They were hulks sitting in the mud, right there next to the road, like ghost ships. Talk about stirring the imagination of a little boy !
There was always some kind of plan afoot to restore them, but it always seemed to fall through, and more pieces would have fallen over every time we passed them. It was powerful imagery to a young tyke, to see this advancing decay each time. - Aggie
