And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? You're talking about a tank. A tank in the field in 1917 or 1918 on which some soldiers painted a name. Likely as not, it was done freehand by amateurs. I wouldn't expect anything less than a bit cockeyed and off center.
'Crusty' was damaged at 'Cambrai' in 1917. The crew, all wounded jumped into a German trench, and the officer chased the few |Germans with his pistol, to allow his men to run over no mans land. He was captured, and spent war as POW. This according to his grandson.
