And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

The doors of the C-17 Corrosion Control Hanger at Hickam Air Force Base on Oahu were specifically made to be fitted around the large aft of a Globemaster III
So the vertical stabilizer doesn't corrode? That whole subassembly doesn't? They could have made the back few feet taller and and the whole thing longer to accommodate the whole aircraft.
Or is it just that there's a few things "up front" that are particularly sensitive?
I have worked at a lot of airports where they had aircraft that were much bigger than their hangars were. We had Boeing 727s with the tails out in the weather but when it snowed we only had to de ice the tail. You have to understand that the local munincipal airport authorities were either unable or refused to find funds to build new hangars when aircraft just kept getting bigger and bigger. They didn't care about your stinking aircraft.

ReplyDeleteWhen I was stationed at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi in the late 70's we had the same situation with the C130's.
