Kinda Cool

  1. So my shop I installed 4 foot led lights and am very happy with them. My everyday garage got 4 of these shown and I am very happy with them also. Not temperature sensitive and no cycling deterioration.

  2. Do some homework regarding LEDS as they ain't all the same. I learned the hard way. Installed 2 LED ceiling fixtures in my office to replace 2 fluor fixtures that were problematic. Well the LEDS are way too harsh on my ocular glands for everyday use. Not sure how to describe it. I think they are the wrong "color" and since I threw the packaging away I have no idea what they are. Also, I installed 4' LEDs in the workshop and while they do throw a lot of light the line between light and shadow is intense, like night and day. While working on the riding mower they were good but when I laid down on the floor and looked up under the jacked up engine I was in complete darkness, plus, when I looked through an opening from below the ceiling lights blinded me to death. LED's is a whole nuther animal and I'm not sure I like.

    1. A lot of LED lighting have 3k,4k & 5k settings. The lower number is a warm orangey light. The high one is a cool blue or white light. I always recommend to my customers adding a dimmer switch.

  3. I have three 4' LEDs in the carport, one was the cheapest at Harbor Freight (~$17) the other two were $22 ea at the local Ace.
    They work great so far.

  6. Leds have point source illumination as opposed to flourescents. With the same lumen output leds are hard to handle. That being said the strip leds, shaped like flourescent tubes are the best choice for work areas

  7. My point of irritation is the mfgr warranty of things like "10 years!" and then they fail after one(1). And they cost more than 10 times the original incandescent. What a scam.
