The Chinese unveiled the J-31 stealth fighter jet, that’s awfully similar to the US F-35, during President Obama’s visit. Certainly the timing was just a coincidence, of course. Just like they developed the technology all on their own, without stealing any US military secrets.
Now, if the Chinese could only build a reliable jet engine, and for that matter, build their own aircraft carriers instead of being reduced to buying second hand Russian junkers, they might be a threat.
Their F-35 variant flies. Our doesn't yet.
ReplyDeleteThey only have to be enough of a threat to count in the short haul. As long as we have people who think like Obama, they know that we'll be the proverbial paper tigers.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, they're closing the gap over time, and the Chinese have always thought long range.
And they have already laid the keel for their own Aircraft carrier.
ReplyDeleteIf we want to totally shut off Chinese R&D all we have to do is stop inventing new stuff for them to steal.
