And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
No doubt that the learned people of the day didn't care to hear the perspective of an Indian. Particularly a renegade who killed a LOT of white men.
Geronimo avoided contact with the US National Army and had a very Sun Tzu like approach to battle, to warfare and to life in general. There is a lot to be admired in the man. Very little to be admired in most of his opponents - and General Miles in particular who was a real cur.
He was the real deal.
