While pissing off Egyptians during their trip to Egypt to do Obama's dirty work, Dumb and Dumber said this to the locals:
...we sympathized with the millions of Egyptians who took to the streets last month to protest Morsi’s abuses of power. But as we said again this week in Cairo, we find it difficult to describe the circumstances of Morsi’s removal from office as anything other than a coup. Unsuccessful leaders in a democracy should leave office by losing elections.
Hey Sherlocks, that would work if there could be fair and open elections, without significant violence, but when the confidence it the democratic process is lost, the elections don't matter any more.
Morsi so abused his power in the short time he was in office, that the Egyptians didn't believe he would allow his own removal democratically. Remember, the Brotherhood believes that their right to rule comes from God, and thus they would never have seen an election loss as anything but illegitimate, and wouldn't recognize it. They certainly had no respect for the rights of others, or the laws and institutions of Egypt while they pulled the levers of their government.
When an elected leader becomes a tyrant in office, the people have a right to toss him/her out when it is clear that the electoral process will not work. By definition, a tyrant will never leave power voluntarily, and that leaves no good option to those who will not submit.
Dumb and Dumber need to recall the real purpose of the second amendment here at home, as the founders had little faith that there would not eventually rise a tyrant wanna-be at some point. In that situation, the proverbial watering of the tree of liberty would indeed be needed, as has now happened in Egypt.
Actually, here at home there is a growing threat of tyranny from the elites like Obama, McCain and Grahmnesty themselves. A larger and larger percentage of the people are realizing this, and while still willing to use the ballot box to change things, they know that if that becomes impractical through fraud or anything else, there will be a resort to the cartridge box. Perhaps these elites don't care much for the example that the situation in Egypt gives to the average American, but at the same time they had better beware, as their corruption, incompetence and stupidity is being noticed.
Their stupidity may be noted but they seem to get re-elected.
