Peter Sayers, in Tasmania, was able to photograph the comet Lovejoy in the very early morning.  Barely visible to the naked eye from the southern hemisphere, scientists are amazed that it still exists at all given it's incredibly close brush with the sun.  


Here is a short time lapse from Western Australia of the tail of the comet rising in the morning.  I sure wish we could see this in the northern hemisphere.
