And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
In the mid-90s, I rigged several oil search ships in Australia. Upon my return, I looked for the four-door flatbed pickup I used there, only to be told that those models weren't sold here. I knew a guy in high school who drove a Land Cruiser made in about 1972. Tough, rugged, and I bet it's still on the road. There's a reason these vehicles are used all over the third world.
Of all the cars I've owned, and some were great cars, I miss the '72 FJ40 the most. It would be Gawd-awful expensive to correct that mistake now, dammit.
Whuu? Spent All that Munney and Didn't check the 50 cal box? That thing would look Phabulous with a tripod and a fresh, clean 50 cal and the belt hangin down into an ammo box.
There is a company in China making pretty close to perfect FJ-40 bodies for about $13K. Making several other brands too. How this is legal I do not know. Someone paid $400 k for a pristine late 60's Bronco that had one of these replica bodies.
Gorgeous!

DeleteI never knew that Toyota made a "Jeep"!!!
ReplyDeleteBetter than any “Cheap”.
DeleteGoogle “FJ40” images.
Those big shackles and wide tires will make that thing rail like a bandit on a crowned road - not that it will ever see one.
ReplyDeleteI would definitely consider a Toyota over a Jeep any day.
ReplyDeleteMost car mechanics dislike Toyotas because they are so well designed and so well produced that they never need repairs.
DeleteLooks like somewhere in the Middle East.
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame that only the luxury model Land Cruiser is sold in the states.
Indeed, but if you bought a non-luxury Land Cruiser in 1992, you’re just as likely to still be driving it today. Ask me how I know. 😃

ReplyDeleteGive it time. This is a before (ISIS) shot. Hasn't gotten to the custom shop yet.

ReplyDeleteNot against the law to build and sell, just against regulation.
ReplyDeleteThe japanese, always looking for a safari, take Pokemon for example.
ReplyDeleteAlways preferred the looks of a CJ, especially with big chrome rims and headers.
