  1. One of the best Western histories I've ever read. I enjoyed every page, because I learned something new on every page. Gwynne has a writing style that lets his story unfold in your head like a movie.

    2. I bought the book due to a previous post and finished reading it a month ago. Really conveys the severity of the situation between the settlers and the entrenched tribal interests. I think that as bad as those conflicts were, its kind of amazing things weren't way worse.

    3. Ditto. I bought it after reading that post here.
Actually now that I think about it, I got it from the library first and decided I had to have a copy in my library.

  2. All of your posts are enjoyable, C.W., but this is the kind of post that I find really helpful in helping me set some goals and make priorities for how I use my leisure time.

  6. I got this book when it appeared here (maybe) a year ago. It was a terrific read. It started me seeking more literature on the Indian Wars.

  7. Its unfortunate underlying this great tale, I can't forget also knowing, here lies the genocide of a great civilization, because some big daddy warbucks wanted their lands to further garner natural resources and train access, certain evil don't change much.

    1. Here lies the destruction of a group of Indians who did all that and more to their neighbors. The Indians were small in number and lived on far, far more land per person than did the civilized pioneers that overtook them.

Read the book asshole, sick of this stupid white men evil shit, typical liberal jizzbag spouting off pre-programmed sound bytes for likes!

  8. The late Mike Leach's book on Geronimo equals it. His death at 61 three yeras ago set our football program back 5 years. In the SEC, that might be an understatement.
