And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Creedence Clearwater Revival at Heathrow Airport in London April 7, 1970. Photo by Michael Putland.
One of the most f^%ked over by their management bands in Rock & Roll History. I believe John Fogerty had to buy back the rights to his own music catalog from Saul Zantz.
Hence the song "Zanz Kan't Dance" on the John Fogerty's "Centerfield" album. I have the cassette from way back. I also have the updated cassette from where he was forced to change it to "Vanz Kan't Dance."
Lots of memories listening to them on my eight track tape player.
ReplyDeleteA week before their Albert Hall concert…
ReplyDeleteI see a bad moon rising.
ReplyDeletewith the first paycheck from my first job I bought the cassette tape Cosmo's Factory.
ReplyDeletethen I commenced to wearing it out on a Lloyds AM-FM portable cassette player.

Front row L to R, Andi, Louise, Flick. Back row L to R, Ruth, Babs, Dee Dee.
Rehearsal from BBC Top of the Pops Jan 1 1970.
My favorite group ever. It's a shame that jealousy had to wreck them. The chord change in Suzie Q will always be one of the best.
ReplyDeleteI thought they were from Louisiana until about fifteen years ago.
