And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Sailing Ship by Night, by James Gale Tyler (1855 - 1931)
And how we love to acknowledge these great adventures by painting things like this so the rank and file can admire how beautiful the rendition, and the subject, are. I could never do minimalist by choice, it denies the love of beautiful things simply because they are beautiful.
These sort of things bring home time just how adventurous we are as a species, or race. Whatever.
