    2. Thanks, Elmo. I couldn't quite recall the name of that fire, so I typed a general description. That same area has a huge fire every five years or so.

  3. Pyrocumulus. Yet another brush fire burning the heavy fuels. The hills, flora, house architecture all suggest SoCal.

    1. While working at the family ranch, I watched the pyrocumulus action that this fire created:

      I was about 45 miles away as the crow flies and watched in awe as the clouds rose and then collapsed in on themselves for better than a week. It was an incredible thing to witness.
      A lot of very fine timber disappeared in that fire.
