And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
In the late 1960's, my cousin and I would go scuba & snorkel diving at Bird Rock near La Jolla, CA. We'd probably collect 4 to 6 decent sized abalone each weekly trip during the summer that he'd sell to local restaurants at $20 a pop. Good money for a teen at that time. They're seriously protected now so that's no longer a possibility.

In our first apartment, we could hear downstairs and over one pounding abalone on the counter. We knew what was for dinner.
