And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

A lot of people say he was an ass, but the couple of times I was around him he was always very nice to me. As a 15 year old my dad had a small concert venue that Townes played a few times. I was the go get this, go do that kid. Prior to the shows when I would ask if he needed anything he was always polite and never talked down to me.
