And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Local musician Trevor Tanner plays Waterboys for me every time I see him play. Fab band and so very overlooked. Thanks for the heads up, I look forward to the new material.
i saw it at the theater when it was first released and being a teenager thought that it was the greatest thing in the world. Was really excited to see it again decades later on cable. Big letdown. The only good thing was the soundtrack which I still have on vinyl from back in the day......
Saw it, cost 20 cents, two dimes. It was then us little shits had to have an older kid take us cause how they rated movies at that time, and all chip in for their ticket.
You (all) should remember and keep in mind that when you view this, you should keep in mind that these two characters in this film were a couple of drug pushers, and not just any drug - heroin.
Recommend you watch Devin Stack's analysis before watching this film. https://rumble.com/v3xsyp1-blackpilled-life-on-easy-mode-movie-review-easy-rider-1969-7-25-2019.html
Been around old Harleys since I was 6 years old. Back in the day (60s and 70s) Choppers were everywhere especially in Daytona and Sturgis! Old Bikers would have the Baggers (with the Family) and young Bikers and Clubs were on Choppers! Choppers are pretty much gone except for shows and local antique "Chopper" groups! Just like the Hippies.....Nothing last forever! I still Have my 68 Shovel ! (Some "Harley Riders" don't even know what it is these days! LOL
Saw it in the theater when released and in the last couple years on a movie channel. Nickloson was very good. I use the that nick nick line when I show up at my brother's house and haven't been offered alcohol after 20 min or so.
Fonda? Blah, like all the rest of his movies. Never lived up to his father's reputation. I thought the plot was good in the theater. Seeing it just recently was a big disappointment.
The score and cinematography are still outstanding.
Great music...I'll give it that.
ReplyDeleteIf for no other reason - Jack Nicholson's performance is legendary.
ReplyDelete"Nick-nick"
DeleteDated of course but worth the time…
ReplyDeleteIt’s under there…
ReplyDeleteNicholson is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteIt is certainly a window into a time that nearly was...
ReplyDeleteMike in Canada
And then Hopper did that horrendous Waterworld.
ReplyDeleteI'd rather watch Waterworld again over Easy Rider.
DeleteLove the scoots.
ReplyDeleteDon’t bother, except for the part where free range kids throw shit on them.
ReplyDeleteI think I saw it at a drive-in when I was maybe 5 years old. I was probably used as birth control at the time...
ReplyDeleteThe Waterboys have a Dennis Hopper concept double album coming out in April. Not that anyone knows who they are, or care.

DeleteIt's not their usual style. Two songs have been released thus far, one reminiscent of Burt Bacharach.

ReplyDeleteYes, definitely should.
ReplyDeleteVery sad ending.
ReplyDeleteSorry to read that. Turn in your man card on the way out.... Tsk... Tsk...
ReplyDeleteI can’t believe you have not ever seen this movie. It’s real 1969.

ReplyDeleteLike a quart of milk or a dozen eggs. Needed to be consumed by a ceartin time. Went bad a long time ago.
ReplyDeleteIt's an "OK" movie, it was probably better at the time it was released.
ReplyDeleteMovie sucked except the ending. That being said, it is worth watching for the ending.
ReplyDeleteBoth iconic and a disappointment. Surprising. Profound at the time; trite in hindsight.

Nemo
The Weight by The Band, sung by Levon Helm (RIP).
ReplyDeleteSave yourself 96 minutes of your life you'll never get back.
ReplyDeleteJust buy the soundtrack, and call it even.
Wow, you've got to kidding me. BTW, the "ending" was Fonda's hatred of the South. F Him.
ReplyDeleteI think he spent $300K on it. Likely made $100MM+ over the years.
Mediocre at best.
