And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Mine went missing during a move. For those who don't know, you buy the bare pole at the beginning of your ascent, have characters burned in at several rest/water stops, and top it off with a rising sun at the peak.

DeleteWay back when I was a Boy Scout and my family lived in Japan, I climbed Mt Fuji. It was really difficult, but I did it. I still have my Fuji pole.
