  1. The Ol' Soldiers' Home (i.e., since renamed the "ARMED FORCES RETIREMENT HOME") in Washington, D.C. has one of those F-86 Sabrejets parked beneath trees on the lawn behind the Sheridan Building, along with an M-60 tank.

  2. Soldiers' and Airman's Home was originally Lincoln's "summer" White House.
My brother was a career employee, eventual patient and is buried there.

    1. Hi DON!!!,
"10-4!!!!!" I remember me, Georgie and his brother Michael going to the Columbia Theater one Saturday afternoon and saw the movie on the silver screen first run!! We sat in the front row seats to really get into the action!! I was 11 years old!!
There are two "Richard Egan" lines I'll never forget... When Cleaver shows up at the morning briefing..."At Ease Men!! I want you to meet my old flyin' buddy Cleaver Saville!!! He and I were flyin' together when all a Pilot had for Breakfast was 'A Cigarette and a Hangover!!!'"
And on Cleavers first time up being "jumped" by Montclevich... "The Ice Man Cometh!!" Rob Mitchum had Val Kilmer going and coming!!!!

      Blue Skyz.....,

  4. One of these old war birds is parked out front of the VFW on Rt.21 in Shortsville , N.Y. Just saw it this past weekend. Still out there. Loved those ol' F-86 Saber jets. Even the name was tough.

  6. My Dad worked for North American and built F86's and F100's.
He even got a Christmas bonus for a fabrication process improvement.

    1. Ever read the story about the old-time N.American assembler that put(I believe)elevator screws/nuts in opposite the way the blueprint showed for the F-86.....because that's not the way they went on in the Mustangs.
And because of him there were some stuck elevators that caused a wreck or two of those craft before they figured what was what!
