  3. Uh, that would be a 312. 318 was a Chrysler product.

    1. That was a jab at dodge. I had a ‘72 dart with the 318. Loved the car, except you’d forget about the hesitation at the wrong time.
Seems the throttle plates would open too quickly if you stomped it too hard. The manifold would loose all vacuum. Causing the engine to damn-near stall out for a second. Then the engine would kick in and launch you hard. But before it did, you were convinced it was going to leave you in the path of something many times your size!
Almost had a couple heart attacks trying to beat trains and semi’s at crossings.

    2. My dad had a 72 Dodge Dart Swinger with a 318. He had to replace it with a 78 Plymouth Volare station wagon (also a 318) when my little sister was born in 78. He loved that car and would drive it like Richard Petty.

  5. Oh yes I would, the 61 is my most favorite of the Thunderbirds! The most forward thinking in design and grace rolled into one package. With the 390 and a 4 barrel is was a boulevard and a highway cruiser.

  6. It would be more practical than that submarine car the other week
