And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I agree with the first 2 anonymous comments....New Zealand is nice, but at our visit, it quickly became just another nice place. I think that Americans have an outsized, overly-romantic view of New Zealand. By landmass, New Zealand is about the size of Colorado, and it's population is just over 5 million.
The south island is packed with sheep (around 60 million last I read) and relatively few people (<1m). North island has more people. Both islands are beautiful, the south island is more rustic, remote, and scenic.
I live out of pic to the right - about 3 miles up the valley. Socialist local govt and an infestation of liberals, marxists, civil servants etc... has wrecked the place and, apart from church activities, I never go in anymore.
been there. just another busy city. but the rest of the country is quite beautiful.
ReplyDeleteVictorian homes, steep hills, nice views. A smaller San Francisco on the other side of the world. Cleaner, too
ReplyDeleteYes, the Victorian homes are very reminiscent of San Francisco. Napier just up the coast is a very cozy little town done in Art Deco.
DeleteThis is on my "Bucket List" of places to visit sometime.

ReplyDeleteIt is my understanding that the South Island is packed with people, while the North Island is a bit more pristine.

DeleteThings look nice and serene here but it isn’t known as “Windy Wellington” for nothing. Lived there for a year and that was enough

ReplyDeleteI visited Old St Paul’s last year. It’s quite the structure.
