And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
In 30 years as a tractor trailer driver, I can recall 2 times I was tempted to cross a railroad crossing with flashing lights. Both times, I looked both ways didn't see any train. Both times, I wouldn't have made it.
Years ago, doing the Military Training Mission in the Middle East. Saudi pilot runs his F-15 off the end of the runway and into the dirt. They get to the plane, but can’t find him. He walked back to the squadron, got in his car and drove home, where they eventually tracked him down.
I'd like to be able to have listened in to the phone call where he asks his boss if his cargo insurance is up to date and then informs him that he doesn't have a truck or trailer anymore.
Well, he ain't driving home, so he'd best start walking.
