And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
An amazing example of what America was never able to build. How come there are NO places like this in America? Everything is strip malls, parking lots and restaurant chains.

Places like this were built in the Middle Ages. We prefer to build modern houses with A/C's (central air) to deal with our climate. For tourist traps, see Disney Land (World), Nantucket, Bar Harbor, Charleston, etc.
You should check out Christmas Cove the next time you’re in that part of Maine. The reason you don’t see them much here is that so much of the coast was seized by the government for ages and everything after that conspired against elite building. Check out places like Sausalito and Tiburon. Twin Harbor in Catalina could have been amazing and ditto Avalon. Governors Island in New York almost could have been great after the USCG gave it back…

Portofino for sure. I've been there a few times, working on yachts. A walk up to the castle is nice. Had the most wonderful gelato there from a small shop on the water front. Nice peaceful place in the summer even when there are a lot of tourists around.
