And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
When I was in high school, one of my dad's buddies somehow won one of these Studebakers. When he drove it home, he said, "Hey John! Want to test drive it?" Of course, did and was in love with it.
Dad had one just like that one, but with a small gash in the front facia from the rear bumper of a dumbass bostonite who pulled out into the street before brushing the snow off of his damn car. Even so, that car would still do over 165.
fBoss had one, drove it occasionally (was not impressed at all, compared to my old 1967 Datsun Roadster). He 'greased' the leather seats with something that made you sweat - and boy did he ever SWEAT! Ugly car, with all kinds of cooling issues.
When Andi Granitelli would come into the grocery where I worked after school, I'd make sure to go out to collect carts. He'd hop in to his Bright Gold metal flake Series 4 and punch it in 2nd out the lot. Very high energy dude in a shiny silk suit. With twin paxtons that car would stomp.

ReplyDeleteOdd phrasing there. On reading i assumed the bumper gash slowed the car a bit.
DeleteRemember thinking how strange they looked when I was a kid. Really a handsome car.
