The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Around the time GOT was ending, I stumbled across an article on the horrific, medical problems she had early in her career. It impressed me with how she handled it.
The Netherlands. Several years back my youngest, tallest daughter was traveling there with another American friend. All the local Dutch people tried to talk to her in Dutch, but immediately spoke to her friend in English. Apparently she looked local, and maybe being a tall girl helped give that impression. Same thing happened when she was in Iceland.
CW - I had similar issues, being 6'4" and of mixed German and Nordic ancestry. They would often try a few words in Dutch before realizing I had no clue what they were saying. It was really odd arriving at Schiphol and travelling by train with everyone so tall - took me a bit to figure out what was different. Tall, friendly, generous folks - everyone of which spoke English better than me. I enjoyed the time there.
Nice smile!
