And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Once I had a red pair of these. Wore them for a long time.
Never was into high tops even as a kid. As a teen it was Vans. You could bring an old pair of jeans to them and they would make them into tennies. I also sported a few pairs of red canvas ones in high school.
I have Vans in a few colors and like the style but as I've grown old I find the time it takes to get them on and the bending over a pain so don't wear them much.
Converse All-Star High Tops were the go to shoe for basketball players when I was in middle school. Had a pair in dark blue to match the team colors. Turns out they were also great for hiking and water sports.
When I was a kid there were only the black hightops, white low cut hadn't been invented yet. You could cut so hard on the basketball court... When we stitched to low top white there were a lot of sprained ankles. Oh the blisters! I can smell them now.
