And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

I dunno why, but this kind of architecture appeals to me.
Agree on Eichler, N Cal, glass, security. Grew up in one. The 1450sf home size sucks. Eichlers built from mid late 50s thru mid 60s IRRC. Understand the aesthetic appeal.
I live in New Zealand and my house was built by an American in 1941. Its not as glazed as that but does face the sun and has lots of glass to use the warmth. Its quite different to the generally awful local designs of that time and remains a great design. Even thought its old (but renovated over my 20 years in it) its still fantastic to live in so thanks whoever you were.
It's too "California" for me.
ReplyDeleteClean and simple, visually - but usually a lot of work to maintain that appearance.
ReplyDeleteClean lines, good mass in the right places, as Anon above...simple. Very FLW without the ignored engineering.
ReplyDeletelooks like an Eichler house in N. CA. I lived in one. Too much glass, too little security, and too much heat loss.

DeleteFrank Lloyd Wright
ReplyDeleteI have built a lot of his plans. Gardener's too. They take a skilled carpenter and even then it is going to suck.
DeleteEastwood
Epitome of mid century modern
ReplyDeleteCorrect!
DeleteMid Century, or Modernism.
These people saying FLW have their heads in their collective asses.
There's no "prairie style" in it at all.
Not conducive to hot, muggy, mosquitoey climates
ReplyDeleteToo neat and tidy....
ReplyDeleteI like it by itself, but when used as an addition to a different style the clash is bad.

ReplyDeleteHmmmm.....,a roof slope even the SS could handle.
Seems more suitable for remote desert fashion.
