Two hours in to the smoke on the Rec Teq, ready for the first baste. Using what has to be Lodge's largest skillet.

4:27 Update:  The turkey is out and resting.  I got on the phone to my sister, and probably would have taken it off about fifteen minutes earlier.  Internals at the thickest part were 175, so it's cooked for sure.  Stuffing is ready. Potatoes are in the oven.  We should be ready to go in about a half hour.

  3. Nicely done! Recteqs are the bomb. Opted for a simple roast with dry brine and herbs and butter under the skin, but regret not putting it on the smoker. Did redeem myself with a couple of ducks earlier in the week.

  4. Lodge's largest cast iron skillet measures 18 feet across and weighs 14,360 pounds. It is a museum piece.

They used to make a 20" but the 17" is the largest available now.
