I know how much everyone likes ink, so....

  1. I have never understood why someone would defile and disfigure their own body through tattoos, piercings, and intentional scarring. But then again, I am an old fart that is not from this generation. In my day, only the dregs of society would do that.

    2. I asked my inked neighbor that exact question. He said most people who do that crave attention or want to look bad. He said he was told that from two tattoo 'artists:'

  3. It's a beautiful piece of decorative artwork, but it would look much better on a slab of wood or even as a framed picture, just not on a human.

    1. That was my first thought. I have enough scars on my hands and arms from working with my hands and all manner of careless moves that I don't need any tattoos.

  4. Body ink is so incredibly compulsive and often, regrettable.

  6. Worked at a VA hospital for many years...lots of old tattoos on old vets. A lot of those tattoos were completely unidentifiable. Just bluish smears...

  7. NOT condemning here.

With the exception of a "few" military tattoos, I have always contended that tattoos are worn by those who have a "hole" in their lives and are seeking to fill it.

The "hole" can be anything. Spiritual, emotional, physical...whatever.
At least with members of my family and acquaintances, I feel this explains the habit you see of folks getting one...and then a second...and then 7 more.
They are continually trying to fill that hole...to no avail.

Think of all the people you know with tattoos (perhaps even yourself).
Is any one of them happy and content with their lives or situations when they make the decision?
    In my experience, not usually.

  8. This is a very perceptive comment. I have watched my stepdaughter, and a family friend try to fill the hole. In the case of my stepdaughter, she finally figured out only Jesus Christ can fill the hole.
