  2. I love these. I wish that I could duplicate them in clay.

  3. A late cousin built a cabin from scratch near the home place. Spent spare time whittlin' spoons & kitchen tools from different types of wood. He also tied off and nurtured young trees that eventually become walking canes. I have one he fashioned from dogwood. A self-taught stonemason, he fashioned several nearby fireplaces--hearths from native stone. Man was born 100-years or so too late.

  4. Neat, if you were doing a survival course, or just wanted the practice.
Skills are always a good thing to practice.

Not so much, when you can have stainless steel actual implements for a coupla bucks even at WallyMart.

But if you're going for rustic, get yourself some foodsafe oil or wax, like for cutting boards, to seal them a bit.
