And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I often said of my Black Lab cross German Shepherd that he was a man in a fur suit. Sam was smart. That's an understatement. Sam was a genius. And affable. The kids in the neighborhood would come to visit him.
"Going to Sam's house" was a refrain heard by many mothers. Sam would help them with arithmetic and other subjects. They fed him cheese and animal crackers. Keep away was a favorite game.
