  6. Hignest paid actress in the 1940s. Brooklyn girl. Steve Douglas was a duma*s to trust her. But did confess to Little Caesar at the end.

  8. She was a class act who treated everyone with kindness and respect. A complete professional who was a mentor to the younger actors she worked with. She was Cecil B. DeMille's favorite actress to direct.

I was surprised to learn she didn't want a memorial service and wished to have her ashes scattered near Lone Pine. It wasn't until later I realized how many Westerns she was in.

    1. If all of that is true, for what it's worth, then I have a far greater respect for her.

    2. She was an actress that all four of her 'Big Valley' co-stars admired as children. They were all thrilled to have the opportunity to work with her through the run of that series.

I've always been amazed how great she looked as Victoria Barkley, considering that she was around 60 when it was filmed.

She was quite a lady. That's why she was referred to as 'Miss Barbara Stanwyck' in the credits of that show.

  9. Her coming down the steps with the camera focused on her anklet for a brief moment was hot. In Double Indemnity.

  10. I have a hard time believing that to be Stanwyck - a lovely photo of her. Late in life she took a terrifying beating from a burglar and did not recover well mentally. Asbest as I have been able to determine
