And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
When I was a kid I always identified with Mike Collins. It seemed to me that after Aldrin and Armstrong went down to the moon and Collins stayed in the command module that he was as alone as any man had ever been when he was over the far side of the moon. Aldrin and Armstrong rightfully got a lot of attention but what Collins did took guts too.

if it were not for Mike Collins at the helm Armstrong and Aldrin would not have made it home. i suspect that Collins enjoyed the peace and quiet, not to mention the view.
He threatened to kick a friend of mine's ass when the friend kept running out of fuel in the flight simulator for the the last Gemini mission. Friend, for some reason, never took his foot off the gas... Always ran out of fuel.
