And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Here in the Lower Yakima Valley of Washington, at the foot of the Horse Heaven Hills, is a small town wherein lies the Horse Heaven Hills Brewery. They have a marvelous Northwest IPA called "Buck Off." Once, when I'd not been in for a time, the owner saw me come in and, knowing what I like, called out, "Buck Off, Vid?" I replied, "Well, buck off yourself, pal!" A good laugh was had by all. Better than the guy in the photo, to be sure.
