And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Beautiful, but I imagine all that would just pancake in a hard earthquake.
I'd think the earthquake thing would depend on the severity of the quake and the engineering of the house. Having said that it sure looks like it wouldn't be good....
IBC code reads that you can cantilever one foot for every inch of board width. Not seeing it here. Must be steel and signed off by an engineer. Not a good idea
