And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

I don't know anything about these, except that I wanna load one up and shoot something.
Yep. Wrought iron, probably hammer welded and maybe banded. Decorative as hell. Put any serious amount of powder and shot in there, and have it fired by your least valuable minion while you watch from a mile away.
Riiiiiiiiiiiiight. 'Cuz no one would ever put them on sloped ground for elevation, or just dig a hole for the trunnion and wheels to sit in, right?🙄
Medieval and Renaissance artillery expertise are the reason Istanbul isn't Constantinople anymore, and why Vauban's engineering prowess was relevant through 1900.
Looks like the cannon from "The Pride and the Passion".

Deletew.
Iron doesn't get a green patina. Those are bronze.
DeleteBut letting a minion fire it while you watch from a mile away is a good plan.
look like 12#er's
ReplyDeleteDirect fire weapons, no way they can shoot rounds in defilade....

Trust me, they got this covered.
I'd like to load of both of them and shoot at two things.
ReplyDeleteMy cannon isn’t that straight anymore, but it can still fire a healthy load without hurting the minonet.
ReplyDeleteThose were devastating to everything on a battlefield. A proper fortress could hold out ...for awhile.
