Looks too dry for Palm Springs. Scottsdale?

  1. Since the great pyramid of Khufu is in the background, I’m guessing Giza Egypt.

  2. Palm Springs is much drier than Scottsdale. 5.2" vs 8.7" annual average (not a good measure generally, but you get the idea. 3.5" make a big difference in this climate.)

  5. Notice how that sliding glass door goes right up to the underside of that roof with no beam or header above it?

That tells me the entire roof is built torsion box style and is therefore very strong in all directions, much more so than, say, roof trusses, which are really kinda squirrely. With the torsion box though you get a lot of thermal bridging and that's not good.
